- Cultural activities : These activities must be of high quality, varied and adapted to the physical and mental health of the elderly and include at least a television corner and a reading room.
- Nursing and Medical Services: Any retirement home must be able to provide at least nursing care, physiotherapy, etc,
- Maintenance and housekeeping services: The residence staff must clean the common areas and the residents' rooms according to established and known cleaning procedures. The residence's maintenance man must ensure all minor maintenance and repairs and supervise the preventive and curative maintenance of equipment
- Power supply: 3 main meals per day and 2 intermediate snacks as well as hot water and beverages at all times; a Kosher Retirement Home must provide Kosher meals.
- Security services and equipment such as fire safety installations (fire detectors with central control, sufficient fire extinguishers, ...), a miklat (fallout shelter) ... with staff trained in emergency procedures and up-to-date maintenance protocols.
- An emergency call system in each resident's room (emergency call lights in the room and in the bathroom, a light in front of the door and a panel in the infirmary or a report on the caregivers' pagers)
- Basic equipment for the rooms of residents with furniture adapted to the elderly and their degree of dependence (e.g.: siphon on the floor in the shower with possible shower seat, support handles in the room, near the toilet and in the shower).
- Air conditioning in the rooms and common areas with up-to-date maintenance procedures,
- Backup power: the establishment must have a generator to deal with possible blackouts.
